This is called a 4-way, all four beams are joined at the post at the same elevation. This requires the use of tension spline joinery.
Over the years we have found Douglas Fir to handle the wide ranging climate of the mid-west adequately. The mid-west is not only our region of employment but our region of residence since we are located in Hutchinson, Kansas. We understand the afflictions of the mid-west because the droughts, floods, tornados, high heat, wind, etc. etc., affect us also.
Our rates are not affected by traveling out of state, except where shipping is concerned. However, the difference in shipping between Dallas and Kansas City is a couple hundred bucks. This amount is a glass of water in the ocean, when compared to the overall costs of building your home.
