Bent Raising Videos
Raising a four post bent.
The video below was taken at one of our raisings. The bent being raised is a four post bent which is one of the easier bent styles to raise.
This particular bent was interesting because while it's a four post bent, you don't see a king post. That being the case, it still raised the same way any other four post bent would raise. What makes four post bents easier to raise is the fact that they have posts resting on the floor on the edges and in the middle. This pretty much eliminates the chicken wing effect completely.
The crane does most of the moving into place. However, the guys on the end help locate it more exactly on the subfloor. Once they have it located as precisely as possible, they crane sets it on the deck. To fine touch the locations, blocks and mallets are used to bump the posts into place. Once they get the bent into place, the guys begin to put the connecting pieces in and the raising moves on.
