Raising Day Equipment
Each raising calls for different size and time requirements for each of these three items. However all are required in order to safely complete a raising.
Crane
The largest piece of equipment is the crane. Most of the time, the crane is not required until the second day of the raising. The first day usually consists of unloading the truck, layout out post locations on the subfloor, and building bents.
Telehandler
The smaller piece of equipment is the telehandler, often referred to as a "skytrac." The telehandler is required for each day of the raising because it is the "mule" of the site.
On the first day, it is used to unload the truck, shuffle pieces, and build bents. After we start raising the bents, its primary job is to put the connecting pieces of the frame into place. This is why we require a telehandler and not a skidsteer. The telehandler can move around to an available location and then use the extendable forks to put the pieces where they need to be.
Scaffolding
The smallest piece of equipment is the scaffolding. The scaffolding allows us to get to the top of the frame to connect the ridge beams and such. We have found the best kind of scaffolding to be the side step scaffolding. This type can be broken down easily, assembled easily, and is lightweight. It also usually comes with castors so that we can move it around easier.
