Who is Clydesdale Frames Company?

Clydesdale Frames Co. is a timber frame company with in-house design services that builds custom timber frame homes and light commercial buildings. We have all the benefits of being a small timber frame company located in the midwest. We promise that your calls and ideas will not get lost in the shuffle or get bounced around from salesman to project-manager and back again. As one of the only privately owned timber frame companies in the state of Kansas, when you talk to us you talk to the “national headquarters”.

Bio

Clydesdale Frames Co was founded in 1999 by John Van Bruggen and Mike McClure. Both were full time firefighters for the City of Hutchinson, in Hutchinson, KS. Like many firefighters of that era, they both operated a construction business on their days off. John wanted to build his own house utilizing timberframe as the method for structural support. He enlisted Mike to be another set of eyes and ears as they traveled to a timberframe school to learn the ropes.

Upon returning to Kansas they teamed up to build a couple two-story timber decks and a room addition before tackling John's house. Well...the house created attention and the next thing John and Mike knew, they had frames to build in multiple states. They organized, adopted the name 'Clydesdale Frames Co' (because John's house was located on 'Clydesdale Drive') and dove into the crazy world of timberframing. 

Mike has since retired and John still owns and operates Clydesdale Frames to this day. The countless stories of the ups and downs, the hours on the road, the funny stories, the impossible jobsites and the wonderful homeowners met along the way could fill a pretty thick book. In short, they know timberframing.
